# Quick Start: Your First IPIS Patch in 5 Minutes

This guide helps you create a simple IPIS patch for yourself – even if you have never been to space. It's a fun way to understand the system.

## What You Need

- A printer (or an embroidery machine, or just a pen and paper)
- Scissors
- Velcro (hook-and-loop tape) or a safety pin
- (Optional) A laminator or clear tape to protect the patch

## Step 1: Choose Your Code

You need two things:

- **Main code** – your current location. If you are on Earth, use `circle 01`.
- **Snezhkov Stack** – your "space biography". For a beginner on Earth, the stack is just `01` (your birthplace).

So your patch will show: **main circle `01`**, and **stack disc `01`** below it.

## Step 2: Get the SVG Template

Download the example patch from https://github.com/snowdimon/IPIS/blob/main/assets/chevron_example.svg (or use any image editing software to draw a circle with `01` inside and a row of small touching circles with `01`).

## Step 3: Print and Cut

- Print the design on paper (or iron‑on transfer paper).
- Cut out the shape, leaving a small border.
- If possible, laminate or cover with clear tape for durability.

## Step 4: Attach Velcro

- Stick a small piece of Velcro hook on the back of the patch.
- Attach the corresponding Velcro loop to your jacket, backpack, or uniform.

## Step 5: Wear It!

Your first IPIS patch is ready. It says: *I am on Earth (01), and I was born here (stack 01).*

## What’s Next?

- When you move to another place (e.g., a Moon simulation base), you can add a new stack disc.
- If you perform a "spacewalk" (EVA) in a simulator, you can add an `E` disc.
- Use the [Stack Guide](stack_guide.md) to learn how to update your patch properly.
